        Save Our Pool

A Cudworth Community Project - 2015

The Cudworth Community swimming pool was built 38 years ago by volunteers from our community and has functioned successfully.  The operation of the pool has provided many people with recreational swimming, swimming lessons and  hours of fun times and exercise.  Many children who have come and gone through the pool doors have learned how to swim, have learned valuable life saving survival and rescue skills, some have furthered their skills to become instructors and lifeguards.  Adults have benefited from lane swimming, modified movements and most recently from Aqua Fit.  Visitors to our community have expressed their admiration for our fine facility.  Participants in swimming lessons at the pool come from Cudworth and the surrounding areas of Wakaw, Martensville, Prud’homme, Vonda, Bruno, Domremy, Alvena, Aberdeen, Calgary, Hoey, Kinistino, St. Denis, Fort Qu’appelle, Humboldt & Saskatoon.  Grandchildren, nieces, nephews of Cudworth residents enjoy countless hours of fun during the summer, while staying with their grandparents, aunts & uncles.

The time has come for major renovations and repairs.  Major water leaks have occurred this past year and must be repaired.  The Town Council and the community organizations met to discuss what can be done and consensus was it needs to be repaired because it is a valuable facility to this community.  They have all made a commitment to raising funds to go towards this very worthwhile project.   The demolition, excavation, general plumbing, cement work, etc., will be done by local contractors and volunteers.  Currently there is $70,000.00 in funds accumulated to begin the project.   It is estimated that approximately $220,000.00 will be further required to complete the renovation of the Cudworth Swimming Pool.

We are reaching out to our corporate and business community to assist us in reaching this goal.  It is corporations and business such as yours that have helped to maintain the community spirit of working together and providing top notch facilities in our Town.  The people of Cudworth, want to make sure, that we are able to continue providing the swimming opportunity to their citizens and visitors for many years to come.  Small communities such as ours, don’t often have the good fortune of having a swimming pool, it truly has been a great alternative for exercise  and keeping our young people engaged in a healthy activity.   We would be happy to discuss various opportunities to support the Save Our Pool program.  Acknowledgement and recognition will be given to all of our donors.    We look forward to hearing from you and please do not hesitate to ask any questions.  You may contact Yvonne or Karla at the Cudworth Town Office for further information.  Phone 306.256.3492 or email town.cudworth@sasktel.net.
